Biography

Brandy R. McMillion was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on November 13, 2023.

Judge McMillion attended the University of Michigan College of Engineering, where she received her B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering in 2001 and 2002. She earned her law degree with honors and a pro bono distinction from The George Washington University Law School in 2006.

Prior to her appointment, she was an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan from 2015 to 2023, where she served as the Chief of General Crimes and was also the Opioid Fraud Abuse and Detection AUSA. Prior to transitioning her career into public service, Judge McMillion worked as a commercial litigator for Bryan Cave LLP, Perkins Coie LLP and Pepper Hamilton LLP.

Judge McMillion is actively involved with various community service organizations with a specific focus on issues affecting women and children. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Association.
