Judge Jonathan J.C. Grey
BiographyJonathan J.C. Grey was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of Michigan on August 24, 2021. He is a graduate of Morehouse College and Georgetown University Law Center. After law school, he was an associate at Seyfarth Shaw LLP and practiced labor and employment law. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable W. Louis Sands in the Middle District of Georgia and the late Honorable Damon J. Keith in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. As an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan and the Southern District of Ohio, he led diversity programs and anti-domestic violence initiatives. He also prosecuted illegal firearms, fraud, and international narcotics offenses. Magistrate Judge Grey is an avid mentor to students from middle school to graduate school and diverse attorneys. He is an active member of the Federal Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Association.
