Identification and Security Requirements

A valid picture ID is required for entry into federal court facilities within the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

When planning to visit a federal court facility within the Eastern District of Michigan, be advised that all persons are required to pass through a magnetometer and have all belongings and packages subject to physical and/or x-ray examination by the United States Marshals Service. When reporting for a court proceeding or other scheduled matter, please plan your arrival time accordingly.

Firearms, knives, explosives, and other weapons are prohibited from federal court facilities and subject to confiscation. Also prohibited are potential weapons such as scissors, letter openers, mace/pepper spray and screw drivers.
