For general admission:

1. After review of your application and documents, the Court will send an email requesting online payment of the attorney admission fee.
2. After the fee is paid, you will be emailed and asked to complete the Oath of Office.
3. After completing the Oath, you are considered a full member of the bar and will be sent a Certificate of Admission in the mail (may take up to 6 weeks).

For government and MDL attorneys:
Government and MDL attorneys are not required to pay a fee and do not complete an Oath of Office. Therefore, after submitting the required application and documents, an attorney will be emailed once processing is complete and given access to e-file.

NOTE: If you are a MDL attorney who plans to appear in person or a former government attorney, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 313-234-5000 for instructions to apply for full admission.

There are two instances in which an attorney will need a sponsor:

1. If the attorney has disclosed any disciplinary issues.
2. If the attorney chooses to receive the oath of office remotely.

The Eastern District of Michigan does not grant pro hac vice admission.

Yes, if you plan to submit documents under your signature. Submitting signed documents is considered "practice in this court" and requires admission.
