Careers with the Court - Overview and Requirements

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan is one of the largest District Courts in the nation. Its main office is located in Detroit, with divisional offices located in Ann Arbor, Bay City, Flint and Port Huron.

Potential employees of the United States District Court are exempt from taking the Civil Service examination but may be required to submit to independent testing administered by the Court. Applicants must be United States citizens or have authorization to work in the United States and be at least 18 years of age. All appointments are subject to an FBI fingerprint background check; with periodic reinvestigation, if applicable. Retention depends upon a favorable suitability determination. All positions are subject to mandatory Electronic Funds Transfer for payroll deposit.
